October National league fixtures

October National league fixtures

Hi everyone and welcome to the official Warriors players blog. This is the place to see the players opinions and views as well as our thoughts on match days, training sessions and events.

It still feels unreal to say the Warriors are competing at a national level. With that being said we played our second weekend of fixtures in the MDUK Championship on the 21st and 22nd October. As always there are some people to thank, so lets start by thanking the coaches who give up their time to enable us to play football and to our parents and carers for supporting us especially on weekends away. We must once again say a huge thanks to our awesome sponsors: Magna Mazda, Dorset Golf & Country Club, Funky Peach, Site Safety, BeeSwift and U-drive who provide a van for our powerchairs.

Now we move on to everyone’s favourite part; talking football. Our MDUK Championship weekend consisted of 5 matches, 3 on the Saturday and 2 on the Sunday. We’ll begin with the Saturday and we didn’t start entirely to plan against Electric Eels where we just weren’t at the races. We lost 6-0 and we felt rather down but the coaches gave a great teamtalk which brought confidence straight back into the squad. In our second match we came back much stronger, we played a much more solid game however we lost 1-0 in a very tight match. In our last match of Saturday we played against Bolton Bullets in a match which we dominated and ran out 3-0 winners. The team played really well as a unit and created loads of chances and we deserved the win. It was awesome to get our second win in this league! That evening we all went for dinner as a team again.

Now onto Sunday’s fixtures, as I said earlier we had 2 matches on the Sunday. The first match was our second of the season against Sevonoaks PFC we played brilliantly especially in the first half, we were rather unlucky to be 1-0 down at half time. The second half wasn’t as amazing but overall we played really well, the final score was 5-0 to Sevonoaks. The last match of the weekend was against WBA Dudley. We probaly edged it on possesion and chances created but went a goal down. We managed to equalise through Ryan (set up by Matt) and we almost snatched the win but I was denied by a great save. It finished 1-1. We finished the weekend 9th in the league which is 1 place higher than the end of last month’s fixtures. It great to see how much the Warriors are developing as a team and we are continuing to progress. Bring on the next fixtures! Up the Warriors!
